When a toddler is late speaking, this can be concerning to parents. Often, when speech is
delayed, adjusting our language modeling can be the trick the child needs. I assess and
include the parent in the therapy so these simple, yet non intuitive strategies, can be
implemented at home.
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex developmental disorder that usually affects a range of behaviors including a delay in expressive and receptive language. This therapist uses relationship based methods with behavioral theory methods to help the child develop speech, vocabulary, and sentence structure as well as expanding their purpose in communicating to include social means.
Early Intervention services are provided for free by the NYS Department of Health’s Early Intervention Program. These in-home services are for infants and toddlers, ages 0-3, if they qualify.

A language delay or disorder is generally described as a significant lag or deviation in the acquisition of language. Language can be impaired in any modality; speaking and understanding and mirrored in writing and reading.
Children with difficulty reading and writing can be helped through word drills and practice. I
follow a phonics-based approach and incorporate speech cues. In conjunction with other
educators, we work on helping your child decode (read) and comprehend (understand) written
text. We also work on writing skills.
Some children have vocabulary and language but don’t use it for purposes of making
connections with others. I provide language therapy to provide opportunities for the child to
use his/her language to comment, explain, verbally inference, and better engage with others.
Providing services through telehealth platforms can be a convenient alternative to in-person
therapy. I service toddlers through parent coaching and provide therapy directly to school-age
children, offering interesting on-line shared materials and practice for youngsters with a wide
range of speech and/or language disorders.
Stuttering is generally described as a disruption in the fluency of speech. Dysfluent speech can
be described as speech that contains sound, word, or phrase repetition, sound or syllable
prolongation, or silent blocks, or disruptions in the flow of speech.
